Precision Under Pressure in Morocco
Bernhard and Company is proud to announce the successful installation of SubAir Systems at three of Morocco’s most legendary football venues: Grand Stade de Tangier, Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium (Rabat), and Stade Mohammed V (Casablanca).
As Morocco took center stage hosting elite international football, these installations ensure that the playing surfaces are prepared to meet the rigorous demands of a global tournament.
The Challenge: Performance Under Scrutiny
In the high-stakes environment of international football, there is zero margin for error. Stadium operators face a trifecta of challenges:
Intense Scheduling: Multiple matches in short windows require rapid pitch recovery.
Climatic Pressure: Heavy rainfall can easily overwhelm traditional drainage.
Global Scrutiny: Players, broadcasters, and governing bodies demand consistent, firm, and elite-level playability.
The Solution: Total Moisture Control
By integrating SubAir Systems, these iconic stadiums have gained a “safety net” for their natural turf. Unlike passive drainage, SubAir allows turf managers to actively pull moisture through the rootzone, maintaining ideal firmness even during downpours.
“Installing SubAir Systems has made a huge difference. By having the ability to pull moisture down and out through the rootzone, we’re encouraging deeper, more fibrous roots.” — Taha Hassoune, Pitch Manager at Stade Mohammed V
Data-Driven Turf Management
To further enhance pitch resilience, the stadiums are also utilizing Soil Scout sensors. This technology provides the grounds teams with real-time data on soil moisture and temperature, allowing them to make proactive, informed decisions rather than reacting to problems after they arise.
A Collaborative Success
These projects were made possible through a close collaboration with Sports Turf Maroc, a leading innovator in pitch construction. Together, we are ensuring that Morocco’s surfaces aren’t just surviving the tournament—they are setting a new standard for sports turf excellence.
Steve Wilson, our Global Business Development Manager for Turf Technologies, sums it up perfectly: “The world’s best stadiums are investing in SubAir because it gives them control over moisture, firmness, recovery, and consistency, exactly when it matters most.”
