Driving excellence at Romania’s newest golf course

A few weeks ago, our European Territory Manager visited National Golf and Country Club, near Bucharest, Romania, to complete an installation and training session for the club’s new Express Dual 3000MC and Anglemaster 3000MC grinders.
A major investment in turf quality
National Golf and Country Club is Romania’s newest golf course and only the fourth 18-hole course in the country. The investment in state-of-the-art Bernhard grinders came through our trusted dealer for Bulgaria and Romania, Eco Lux Ltd, led by Bogart Ionkoff.
The decision to purchase was made by Club Manager, Ozkan Baykal, following strong recommendations from Head Greenkeeper, Alex Gherman. With experience at leading golf courses in Sweden and Belgium, Alex knew firsthand the impact that sharp, precise cutting equipment can have on turf health and playability. Since taking up his post at National about a year ago, he has worked tirelessly to raise course standards and ensure players enjoy world-class playing conditions.
Training the team for success
During the installation visit, our team provided full product training to mechanics, Marius and Hayrulla. As is often the case in emerging golf markets, many greenkeeping teams are using precision grinders for the first time. That’s why our training goes beyond installation – we focus on building confidence and skill, walking through every step of reel and bedknife sharpening so clubs can get the best from their investment.
Through hands-on demonstrations, we shared tips and techniques to help the team establish an efficient, consistent maintenance routine. By the end of the training, the mechanics were not only confident in using the grinders but also in setting up cutting units perfectly to achieve outstanding performance on the course.
